Today has been a whirlwind of stress. Actually, this last week has been a whirlwind of stress; good stress, not bad stress. Anyway, today it all came to a head.
I'm supposed to be leaving on a 4 week trip to Europe, starting this weekend. Today was Easter dinner at my parents house, and it was right in the middle of the day. Therefore, I crammed a double shift yesterday and woke up early this morning to try and finish up my project before heading to my parents to celebrate Easter @ 1pm today. I knew as soon as dinner was done at my parents house, I'd have to come home and begin packing for my early morning flight tomorrow. We've all been rushing around trying to get laundry done and my bags packed for an early 5:30 am wake up time. I admit that I was (selfishly) bummed that I wasn't able to meet my deadline for work and that I haven't been able to train at all this week for my upcoming marathon. Again, crazy week and even crazier Friday.
Fast forward to 9:30 pm (ie: moments ago). I get a message from Yiorgos (my Greek brother) who was asking for my flight details so he could pick me up at the airport on Monday. I flipped out, thinking he had his date wrong! I was sure that I was to arrive on Sunday afternoon. Immediately, I checked my itinerary so that I could send him my flight details and let him know he had to be at the airport a day earlier than he thought...
Once I checked my itinerary, I realized that my flight doesn't leave until SUNDAY MORNING. I now have a completely free day with my family. It works out great after all. Bags are packed, I can try to finish my project tonight, I get to do a long run tomorrow, AND (best of all) I get to spend a full (no-work) day with my family. Anybody that knows my past travelling track record, knows that this is fairly typical of me. :)
